Plot Synopsis:
After a huge flood in the 15th year of Kangxi, the young Emperor Kangxi sets up a department to recruit talents for river management. The 24-year-old unsuccessful son Chen Huang stands out among the candidates and was good at river management.
The young Emperor Kangxi was eclectic and selects Chen Huang for the task.
Chen Huang and Jin Fu, who is also interested in river governance, work together for half a century and experience several major political turmoils in the Kangxi Dynasty. The young and outspoken Chen Huang dies under the slander of treacherous ministers and cliques. Before his death, he leaves a famous river control book-“Shu Yao of River Defense”.
In the fifty-first year of Kangxi, Taiwan was recovered, Junggar was pacified, the Yellow River was calmed down, and the river water turned clear.
Emperor Kangxi visits Yangzhou and sees the Heshen Temple. There are statues of Jin Fu and Chen Huang in the temple, commemorating the two men who had lofty ideals, leaving love freely among the people.
