- Rui Ning lies in the hospital. Hua Hua and Chen Mo stay with her. Mrs. Ye comes in, choking Rui Ning and wants her son back. Ye Miao pulls her away.
- Rui Ning visits her dad. The doctor tells her to be prepared for the worst. Her dad’s condition worsens and he passes.
- Flash forward to the first scene of Rui Ning in front of Ye Miao. It’s been a long time.
Rui Ning at Ye Manor
- Rui Ning says she’s ready to start work tomorrow. She gets up to leave and Ye Miao asks why she doesn’t feel guilty. Rui Ning thinks she’s already gotten payback.
- Rui Ning unpacks. She’s kept Ye Lin’s painting of her.
- Shen Zhen has become Mrs. Ye’s assistant. She finds out Rui Ning has returned to work on the Mountain-River Painting commissioned by Ye family. Ye Miao is also at the Ye home.
- Rui Ning gets ready to go for a walk but Ye Miao stops her and they go for a car ride.
- They look at the ocean. Rui Ning tells him she’s in no mood and has a lot of work to do. She leaves with his car.
- Rui Ning looks at an old notebook and records her notes.
- She asks Ye Miao for information. They discuss how to go about restoring the artwork.
- Rui Ning wants more information on the author. Ye Miao says she’s cast a curse on the women Ye men like to not have a happy ending. Her last name is Xia and she died by jumping off a building.
- Ye Miao takes out Rui Ning’s Prozac. She had left it in his car by accident. He tells her this medicine shouldn’t be taken long term and is harmful.
