Plot Synopsis:
This drama takes place during the Ming Dynasty and is a story of political intrigue, strategy, and revenge. During Emperor Yong Le’s first year, the royal doctor Jing Qing and his family was executed. The eldest daughter managed to escape with the help of Sun Zhong and changed her name to Sun Ruo Wei. Years later, the Qing Zheng cult manipulates her and tries to get her to marry the ambitious Prince of Han, Zhu Gao Xu. But, she ends up marrying Crown Prince Xuan De, and becomes his concubine.
As concubine to the son of her enemy, she plots for revenge for her family but ends up giving up her personal vendetta for the people of Ming. She also ends up falling in love with Xuan De, who eventually becomes Emperor. She succeeds in usurping the throne for her son, Emperor Ying Zong – the Jing Tai Emperor. As Empress Dowager, she helps her son learn to be a noble ruler and helps rescue the Ming Dynasty from danger and demise.

Tang Wei 汤唯 as Sun Ruo Wei 孙若微
She is the eldest daughter of Jing Qing under the Jian Wen dynasty. Her entire family was beheaded by Emperor Yong Le of Ming. She escapes and seeks revenge for her family.
Zhu Ya Wen 朱亚文 as Zhu Zhan Ji 朱瞻基
Carefree in nature, skilled in both literature and military. Since childhood, Zhu Yi and Yao Guang Xiao have high hopes for him. Growing up in the world’s most complicated family, no one but him can argue against his father, Emperor Zhu Gao Chi. He unconsciously falls in love with Sun Ruo Wei.

He learned to be calm headed and strategic. Xu Bin loves Sun Ruo Wei and once went deep into enemy lines to protect her son. Even if fate separates the two, Xu Bin will always be her elder brother, a think tank, a patron, and a lover, always by her side.
Zhang Yi Xing 张艺兴 as Zhu Qi Zhen 朱祁镇
The eldest son of Zhu Zhan Ji, the father of Zhu Jian Shen. He was emperor at the age of nine and had no governing experience. He eventually was defeated and his brother succeeded the throne. Later, he was welcomed back to the title of Emperor. He then reigned for 22 years as Emperor Yingzong. Although he was politically inadequate, he was also motivated, benign and loved the people.
Yu Hao Ming 俞灏明 as Zhu Gao Xu 朱高煦
The second son of Emperor Zhu, and most similar to his father. He is ambitious, planning hsi entire life to seize the throne from the Crown Prince. When Emperor Zhu dies in Mongolia, Zhu Zhan Ji discovered the plot but failed to take office. Later, Zhu Zhan Ji becomes Emperor, with the help of Hu Shan Xiang, Gao Xu’s rebellions end in failure.

Oh that’s so awesome! What makes it different from the other historical dramas? It’s loosely based on historical events which I like and the ratings are pretty good for it at the moment!
