Summary: The Chinese drama is adapted from Lingxi’s original novel “Love in a Fallen City”. It tells the story of Xiao Bei Chen, the son of the general, who has a rebellious temperament, and Lin Hang Jing, the down-and-out daughter, who go through several misunderstandings and twists and turns.

Plot Synopsis:

During the period of the Republic of China, the warlords are divided. Lin Hang Jing, a talented cardamom girl, becomes imprisoned because of her father. She goes to her father’s friend Xiao Da Shuai. Although she is under the fence, she is neither humble nor arrogant.

Xiao Da Shuai sends his son to the military academy to train him, and Qi Yi Niang promises to connect him with Hang Jing when he graduates.

After five years of hard work, under the strict training of the instructors, Xiao Bei Chen, who experiences life and death in the war, grows from a demon king of chaos to an iron-blooded soldier.

After returning from school, he helps his father clean up the army and wants to propose to Lin Hang Jing, but unexpectedly learns that she has fallen in love with the hot-blooded young Mu Zi Zheng.

Because of Lin’s father’s sudden distress, Xiao Bei Chen and Lin Hang Jing agree to marry in order to save Lin’s father. After marriage, the two experience various hardships, from alienation to growing affection, but due to a misunderstanding, Hang Jing disappears in a fire.

After seven years of separation, the Anti-Japanese War breaks out. Lin Hang Jing, who had joined the patriotic organization, returns to Beixincheng and persuades Xiao Bei Chen to unite against Japan.

Mu Zi Zheng becomes a Japanese eagle dog due to his mother’s illness. He repeatedly harms Xiao Bei Chen, and Hang Jing protects Bei Chen. In the end, the two resolve their misunderstandings, sets fire to the truth, and join hands to protect their homeland.
