Plot Synopsis:
A story about twin brothers and their many adventures through the martial arts universe. The story is an adaptation from the book of the same name, Gu Long’s wuxia novel. The twin brothers are separated at birth and are raised under different circumstances. When they meet again years later, they think of themselves as enemies but grow to become friends and brothers.

Jiang Xiao Yu, better known as Xiao Yu Er, was raised by the Ten Great Villains in the Villains’ Valley. He think he’s the top villain in the jianghu. He’s learned many tricks over the years and becomes a mischevious prankster, though his heart is kind. He meets Hua Wu Que, who he doesn’t know is actually his twin brother. Hua Wu Que grew up in Yi Hua Palace under the care of Princess Yao Yue. Princess Yao Yue had a one-sided love for his father, Jiang Feng, and wanted to take revenge on him. Thus, she separated the twins at birth and raised them with the hopes they would be enemies and fight each other to death.

Separately, Jiang Bie He, who was once the servant to Jiang Feng, teams up with Jiang Yu Lang in a conspiracy that might ruin the entire jianghu. Hua Wu Que and Xiao Yu Er team up together to try and take him down.

Watch Factor:

Hu Yi Tian is gorgeous in ancient/wuxia wear! This is his first non-modern day drama and watching the behind the scenes I can see he put a lot of effort into being Hua Wu Que. The fighting scenes look very intense and I can already see the good-hearted nature and chemistry of the brothers. I don’t think I’ll be watching this though because I already know the entire story and plot line, given that it’s an adaptation and has been done many times before.

Cast & Characters:

Hu Yi Tian 胡一天 as Hua Wu Que 花无缺
Xiao Yu Er’s twin brother. Wu Que grew up in Yi Hua Palace as the only male and looks a lot like his father, Jiang Feng. He is trained well in martial arts and respected in all of jianghu. His personality traits are being a gentlemen, graceful, kind, and naive. He keeps his emotions hidden and doesn’t know much about the outside world.

Chen Zhe Yuan 陈哲远 as Xiao Yu Er 小鱼儿
Hua Wu Que’s twin brother. He was raised by the Ten Great Villains and trained to become like them. He is very charming and has rugged good looks. Many females fall for him because of his charisma. Though he can also fight and has good martial arts skills, he would rather use his tricks and cunning. He is great at being a thief and lying to others. Deep down, he is actually a kind person and has a good heart.

Supporting Characters – The Lovers

Liang Jie 梁洁 as Su Ying 苏樱
The foster daughter of Wei Wu Ya. She is spoiled and arrogant and loves to scheme. Su Ying is trained in martial arts, medicine, and very cunning. She uses her beauty to her advantage and maintains an indifferent personality. She falls in love with Xiao Yu Er and follows him through his journeys. Su Ying is able to control Xiao Yu Er by changing her behaviour to his mood, easily swaying him to do what she wants.

Liang Jing Xian 梁婧娴 as Tie Xin Lan 铁心兰
The daughter of Tie Zhan, one of the Ten Great Villains. She is beautiful and puts on an appearance of being softhearted and weak. In reality, she is actually very stubborn and strong-willed. She falls in love with Xiao Yu Er even though he doesn’t pay attention to her. Later, she falls in love with Hua Wu Que, who returns her affections. The three form a love triangle and she is usually in the middle of the two brothers when they start to fight.

Supporting Characters

Luo Jia Liang 罗嘉良 as Jiang Bie He 江别鹤
Jiang Bie He was originally Jiang Feng’s (the twins’ father) servant until he changed his name to Jiang Qin. He betrayed Jiang Feng and caused his death. Jiang Bie He is ruthless, intelligent, and skilled in deception. He puts on a show and pretends to be a hero when he secretly resorts to extortion and assassination. Xiao Yu Er and Hua Wu Que work to expose his secrets and his involvement in the different crimes of jianghu. Yan Nan Tian is able to capture and defeat him, bringing justice to his good friend Jiang Feng.

Mao Lin Lin 毛林林 as Yao Yue 邀月
Yao Yue is the first mistress of Yi Hua palace. She is beautiful, skilled in martial arts, and charismatic. Jiang Feng does not return her love and ends up eloping with Hua Yue Nu, her servant. Because of this, Yao Yue gets angry and hunts down the couple. After the couple’s death, she separates the twins in the hopes they will wreak havoc on each other. She and her sister Lian Xing take one of the twins and raise him as their own.
