- Hai Tang thinks about her brother. Her brother wishes to have money to wear better clothes.
- Hai Tang mixes the stem with the petals, contaminating the batch. Yue Xuan lectures her for it.
- Si Nian meets with Ji Zhou to talk about their arrangement. He warns Ji Zhou to stop his schemes.
- Hai Tang stays overtime to fix her mistake. Mo Hua waits for her outside. She asks Yue Xuan to let Hai Tang off work because her family is in trouble.
- Mo Hua tells Yue Xuan about Xia He and Rong Rong’s hatred. He says he’ll find a way for Xia He to go to school.
- Yue Xuan treats Hai Tang’s wound and tells her to take a day off work tomorrow.
- The next day Yue Xuan talks with Principal Yi and asks he reconsider accepting Xia He. Yue Xuan brings him to the Gu home. Principal Yi observes Xia He and admits him to St. John’s.
Hai Tang Works for Mrs. Lang
- Mrs. Lang lectures her daughter-in-law, Miao Lan. She looks for another comb girl and the servants pick Fan Zhen.
- At work the girls gossip about the Lang family and think a rouge ghost is helping them collect the best rouge.
- Yue Xuan allows Hai Tang to accompany Fan Zhen to be a comb girl. Hai Tang thanks Yue Xuan.
- Hai Tang and Fan Zhen arrive to Lang manor. Fan Zhen is scared of the rouge ghost.
- Fan Zhen injures her hand and Hai Tang goes into the garden to look for medicinal flowers. Yue Xuan sees. Hai Tang asks if Lang manor has a ghost. Yue Xuan tells her to stop being silly and brings her back to her room.
